About White Sands Negril
The history of the resort began in 1971 when Henry Moo-Young and
his wife Gloria decided to build four spacious apartments on the
most beautiful beach in Jamaica, and call it White Sands. Over thirty
years have passed and the only measurable change to the resort is
that the four apartments have grown to forty rooms and a villa.
Henry still lives on property, greets guests each day and tends
to the lush gardens that surround the resort. A simple life for
a simple man.
Having grown up in a family of eleven brothers and sisters, Mr.
Moo-Young is a firm believer in the strength of the family. As such,
he and his family are responsible for the total management and care
of the resort. Guests are treated like family and some have been
visiting White Sands for over 20 years. Those who came as children
with their families many years ago are now bringing back their own
children. With the hope that many generations will continue to make
White Sands their annual vacation pilgrimage. White Sands is
a simple resort with a non-hotel atmosphere.
Smile For A Child program
The grand-daughters of Mr. Moo-Young, Kiera & Hailey Russell,
have started a new program to help the children in Jamaica called
"Smile For A Child". It allows you to put a smile on a
child's faces by bringing a new unwrapped toy to Negril and/or bringing
school supplies. The toys will be donated to the Mary Gate of Heaven
Catholic Church just down the road from White Sands. At Christmas
time the Church will hand out all the toys to needy children in
the Negril community. The school supplies will be immediately given
to the Lilinya Day School in Savanna-la-Mar and the Broughton Early
Childhood Institution. The schools teach children ages 2-8 years
old and always in need of basic school supplies. i.e. pencils, color
paper, Elmer's glue, kid's scissors, erasers, crayons, chalk, children's
toothbrushes, etc...
If you want to personalize your donation by attaching a note, rest
assured that the note will be read to the children when the gifts
are presented. By getting involved in our program you will help
needy children in Jamaica and put a smile on their face.
