Commonly Asked Questions
Anthony
and Father Morrow
We are both here for you all week whenever you need us. Fr.
Morrow will hear confessions any time you wish and you can schedule
confession or an appointment to meet with him as well. Father
will give a couple of talks as well. Anthony will hold a couple
of discussions groups and an ice breaker, as well as meet with
anyone to talk. He will be available for any need. It will never
be hard to find us. We are both pretty much at the beach all
day.
Getting
To Know the Group
You get to know the group by mingling. Meet up at the beach,
get a group together for a meal time, arrange to go on excursions
with others. It's a flexible time and it's not hard to find
where anyone is. Make the most of your time and try to get to
know as many of the group as you can.
Things
To Do
There are lots of activities and excursions. Besides the warm
water of the ocean and fabulous beach, you can scuba, snorkel,
jet ski, parasail, go on a horse back ride, mountain bike ride
and much more. The resort has a pool, pool table & ping
pong table as well. Or rent a scooter or bike and see the area.
Room
Rates and Availability
All room rates are quoted on the basis of a full week, and include
taxes and transfers, roundtrip transportation from the airport.
Prices do NOT include food, drinks or excursions. All rooms
contain air-conditioning, and either a balcony or porch with
access to the pool, game room, beach bar and grill, sun deck
on the beach and gift shop.
The rooms are rustic, but comfortable enough. If your expectations
are high about the details, amenities or comfort level of the
rooms, you will need to lower them. We are "Off the Grid",
and that includes our rooms. It does not just mean "No
TV". Remember your spirit of adventure :)

Mass

The Mass and Eucharistic Adoration schedule is to be announced.
But we will have Mass every day.
What
To Bring
The following is not a complete list, but it is a good starting
point for things you definitely need and/or might want to bring
with you to Jamaica.
- Snorkel/fins/mask
- Beach towels
- Swim suits
- Sunglasses
- Sun hat
- Bug spray
- Suntan lotion
- Camera, video camera, film, tapes, batteries, etc.
- Cash (U.S. Currency), travelers checks and ATM cards
- Sandals and/or water shoes
- Anti-itch ointment (Cortaid or Caladryl) in case of mosquito
bites
- Aspirin
- Imodium (in case you have a weak stomach)
- Benadryl
There are stores and pharmacies there
in case you forget anything or need something.
What
To Wear
It's the Caribbean, it's the beach, and it's hot! There are
NO formal clothes needed of any kind. Just casual wear. One
long sleeve shirt and one pair of long cotton pants at the most.
There are mosquitoes (so I hear), so consider that in your evening
wear. But mostly summer clothes and swim suits (obviously).
Ladies, a one-piece swim suit is respectfully requested.
Additional
Expenses to Consider
Additional costs will vary for each person. It all depends on
what you do. You might not know that until you get there. So
the following are possible additional expenses that will help
you get an idea of how much to bring. Keep in mind that you
will be able to use U.S. currency, Travelers Checks and credit
cards. If you use their ATM machines, you will get Jamaica currency out of the machine. It would be wise to consider
bringing cash to have with you, or use your credit card.
Airfare - $470 average
Our travel agent, Laura of Caribbean Journey, can book your
airline ticket. She indicates that the price will be between
$410 and $560, depending on where you are located in the U.S.
(other countries may be higher). She can guarantee you a seat
for a $150 deposit and then continue to attempt to get you the
best rate available if you book airfare through her after you
complete registration. Airfare purchases are non-refundable.
To work with her on your airfare and travel insurance (which
we HIGHLY recommend, too), call her at 1-866-236-1924.
Food and Drinks
There is a lot of great food in the area. We will have a list
of recommended places to try, but you can go off and discover
places on your own as well.
Breakfast is always a challenge because if Mass is in the morning
or your excursion leaves in the morning, there many not be time.
But we are arranging the beach bar to have continental breakfast
style items available for a very small fee.
Lunch, dinner, snacks and all beverages can be obtained in
many ways. There are all kinds of food stands, grills and restaurants
all over, even all along the beach. You can even have food delivered
to the beach from a couple of great food places.
The average lunch is $8-$10, and dinner can range anywhere
from an average of $14 to $35, depending on where you
go. It is our recommendation that you consider $30-$60 per
day for food and beverages.
Transportation and Tipping
What took us by surprise the most in our first time was the
amount of tipping and paying for transportation. A trip in a
taxi anywhere can be $3 to $7. And people expect a tip for everything.
So be prepared to spend about $12-$15 per day in transportation
and tipping. If you want to move about the area to sightsee,
or go to shops or to night spots, etc, the best way is to take
a cab. The price is totally negotiable. You work it out with
the driver. Scooters and bikes can be rented as well.
Activities and Excursions
There will be a lot of things to do around where we are staying.
There are places to rent things like snorkel equipment, etc.,
and places to take organized excursions. How much you need to
bring for these depends on how much you want to do. We will
provide some organized excursions for you to sign up for, but
there is no obligation to do any of them.
Cell Phone Rental
If it is a "must" that you keep in touch with family,
friends and your business while you are in the Jamaica,
you can rent a cell phone. It is inexpensive and calling rates
are very affordable. Pricing is as follows:
$5 per day
$20 for 7 days
All incoming calls to your cell phone are FREE
The international calling rate is flat to any country in the
world and the cost is approximately 30 cents per minute. It
is actually less expensive to make calls using a cell phone
when compared to the cost of making calls using the regular
phone in their lobby.
You can even reserve your phone number before you arrive so
you can give it to those you need to call you. Just email us
and ask to arrange it for you.
